Some emails are too sensitive to sit unprotected in a mailbox

Lockbox gives your most sensitive messages their own vault. Locking a message redacts its content from the mailbox and replaces it with an image placeholder. That message can only be opened after passing multi-factor authentication—so even if an account is compromised, the sensitive data remains under lock and key.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you lock a message?

Navigate to the Lockbox tab in the X-ray page for the message you want to lock. By default, messages are always unlocked. You can either change the timeframe the message remains unlocked to 4 hours or lock it immediately.

Messages can also be locked through admin-defined workflows that automatically protect certain message types.

How do you unlock a message?

You can click Unlock from the placeholder message in your email client or return to the X-ray page and click Unlock from the Lockbox tab. Either way, you must provide the security checkpoint code sent to your authenticator device and click verify.

What kinds of messages should be locked?

Any message containing sensitive information you wouldn't want exposed in a mailbox— legal correspondence, HR communications, financial data, or anything containing PII. If it would cause damage in the wrong hands, Lockbox it.
